Anyone been to Vegas and took a helicopter trip to the grand canyon? £300 per person seems an insane amount of money!! Need to find a cheaper way!

I've done a full day bus tour was $150 from a little booth on the strip. The day includes bus ride to Lake Mead, onto the Hoover Dam then u go off to a ranch have dinner buffalo wings (tasty) Grand Canyon beer also then get an helicopter ride through the Canyon. It was a great day take a camera it's an amazing site helicopter scared the shit out of me tho haha.

I kayaked from Lees Ferry down to Diamond Creek in 03, at times the most beautiful thing and at times the most scary. 18 days in an 8' kayak, I think I'd sit in a raft next time, too old for that kinds trip these days

Me and my eldest lad did the flight in November. It was expensive but we were only in Vegas for 5 nights and didn't want to waste a full day sat in a car/coach. My son hadn't been in a helicopter before and loved it.

Another consideration is if do the overland trips the hotel pick ups are too bloody early in the morning. The heli trips only take probably 3 hours and can be done in the morning or afternoon leaving the rest of the day free.

It is good fun as well and you do land on the rim of the canyon for lunch and a walk around.

I forgot to mention. I presuming you have already booked your accommodation but if you haven't we booked the hotel in San Francisco through TripAdvisor. They have some sort of connection with a company called Viator who arrange activities all over the place. Because of the connection Viator send you a voucher for 20 per cent off their trips. Not a bad saving.

We did it 18 months ago. Booked online whilst we were there through maverick helicopters. They picked us up from the hotel and took us to boulder airport and flew from there over the hoover dam then onto the grand canyon.
We didn't land at either but absolutely loved it, so much so that when we got back I started to learn to fly them and now working towards my commercial license!

Drove from Vegas to Quartermaster Point via Hoover Dam.

Was working at Nellis AFB for eight days solid, early starts and late nights in the casinos.

My boss nagged me to drive him there on our day off - I was all for just chilling for the day.

Took about 3.5 hours with last 20 miles on unmade roads on the reservation, but well worth it.

It's one of those once in a lifetime places and I'm so glad I made the effort to go.

Would do the helicopter trip next time though.
