Talksport

There was a strange conversation on the Jim White show this lunchtime, as Bob Mills reminisced over a game from 20 years ago this week when Craig Shakespeare featured for Grimsby in a 1-1 draw against a City lineup, that according to Mills, boasted Kernaghan, McGoldrick, and Rosler.

He then expanded on the game which included goals from Peter Appleton and Mikhail Kavelashvili.
Mills questioned if anyone remembered Kavelashvili, and Michael Gray replied:

“Yes, I played with him at Sunderland. He was really popular at City”

Now, maybe Gray was getting mixed up with Nicky Summerbee, (who certainly wasn’t popular at City)

Otherwise, answers on a postcard.

I'm wondering that as well.

We had another Georgian around that time called (something like) Tzadadze, he was a centre back. That match was around 20yrs ago so maybe there's been a few errors

Also, a bit off topic, do you remember Murtz Shelia(another Georgian)? - he kicked a ball so hard away at Birmingham, that he popped he ball!

Anyone remember, during that Grimsby game, a steward stopping the ball from going off the pitch when it would have been a corner to City ?

Can't remember what the ref gave, drop ball maybe. But no advantage to City.

Also a bunch of rags, with shirts on, taking the piss from their main stand. At least two rows left early to 'meet' them when they came out.

Kaveleshvilli played ok. Bizarre he didn't play more imo.

Kinklaszw said Kaveleshvilli was better than him when he signed. Think he was brought to be a mate for Kinky in all honesty.
