North Korea. A possible solution.

That's not correct. As far as I can see, they were a largely independent state since the late 14th Century until they were forcibly annexed by Japan in 1910.
Apologies, I thought they were in that group of countries that got passed back and forth between the Chinese and Japanese. Either way, reuniting the two could be a very tricky proposition, since there's been close to zero contact/mixing between them for 67 years and so much propaganda by both sides.

Has anyone ever bought him a cake for his birthday?

China is reluctant as it sees NK as a buffer state between it and US dominated South Korea. One possible solution is to agree with China to topple the Kim regime, re-unite the two countries and then largely demilitarise the peninsula.

Whether that could happen though depends on China, which intervened militarily in the Korean War to defend NK and probably would be wary about the prospect of an economically powerful democracy on its southern border.

China's more immediate problem would be a biblical flood of refugees across its border if war broke out
