Thinking outside the box

So all the workers that get deliveries have to work nights as well? Those lorries you see don't just go to supermarkets. You can drive 10 hours but under your system due to any delays they would have to sit in their lorry from 7am to 9pm and might not get back and have to do it all again. It's not practical I'm afraid mate.
What do long distance drivers do? They sleep in their trucks, also if you had large distribution centres the trucks could go there, like I said think out the box, the delays certainly wouldn't be due to the roads there's no fucker in them at night.

I take it you don't drive much on motorways at night. I've drove on the M6 and other main motorways at all hours. There are often more trucks than cars in the night.

Precisely a lot of trucks do use the road at night but getting them all to do it and all the staff associated with it is unworkable

I would move taxes away from being income-related and towards being consumption-related. I would do it in a tax-neutral way so that your average family ends up paying the same amount of tax, but those with large armies of accountants who are able to minimise tax are suddenly required to pay a fair tax contribution that is based on what they spend rather than based on what they earn.

In other words, if you imagine that all your income that is currently paid in tax at source by your employer was instead paid to you, but that taxes on the things you buy every day (petrol etc) were significantly higher so that the tax you saved by not paying income tax is equal the extra VAT you pay for goods and services. You would be no better and no worse off (in theory). The target would be the companies and individuals who massage their financial positions so that they minimise or avoid income and other similar taxes altogether. You can't avoid VAT - if you don't pay the VAT they won't sell you the petrol.

Why can't you do that at work? My mate does.
I was waiting for a work colleague to arrive on site a few years ago. He text me saying he'd be about an hour late.

I was bored and remembered I had a few adult DVD's in my laptop bag. I put one on and soon got aroused(none of that shit with big hairy German porno ' taches and dodgy 70s porno music)

I was giving it the 5 knuckle shuffle ( like you do) and decided to put the laptop in the back of my van and go for it.

The area was secluded so I thought nobody would disturb me, and on the vinegar stroke, I head - (Scottish accent) "morning mate, how ya doon?"

A rather embarrassed "erm, fine thanks mate"... He clocked me saying "och, what ya doon there laddie?".... "erm, I'm having a wank, what does it look like?"

Man fat drops all over the van.... He was disgusted and walked off.... Half an hour later I sheepishly offered to make him a brew. He accepted on seeing the semi skimmed milk lol.

True tale.

Made me laugh

I was thinking about short-term national service as it'd instil some discipline into all the scumbags and make them more respectful of society. Look at how the older generations (who had to do national service) respected each other. The only consideration is - most people go to uni now when they didn't before, so you'd be delaying their careers by at least a year.

I don't think uni fees should be free (old fees were best value for money). Scotland has no problem having it free atm because the rest of the country props it up (unfair since Scots in a basic theoretic level become the educated class of the country since they can all go) - if all the country had free fees, everyone becomes too educated and expects jobs that wouldn't be there. You need "low-skilled" workers to prop up the economy and make society function - I don't think a constant influx of immigrant workers to do these jobs is sensible for a number of reasons.
Libraries gave us power, then work came and made us free....

I like that song.
