Thinking outside the box

I was waiting for a work colleague to arrive on site a few years ago. He text me saying he'd be about an hour late.

I was bored and remembered I had a few adult DVD's in my laptop bag. I put one on and soon got aroused(none of that shit with big hairy German porno ' taches and dodgy 70s porno music)

I was giving it the 5 knuckle shuffle ( like you do) and decided to put the laptop in the back of my van and go for it.

The area was secluded so I thought nobody would disturb me, and on the vinegar stroke, I head - (Scottish accent) "morning mate, how ya doon?"

A rather embarrassed "erm, fine thanks mate"... He clocked me saying "och, what ya doon there laddie?".... "erm, I'm having a wank, what does it look like?"

Man fat drops all over the van.... He was disgusted and walked off.... Half an hour later I sheepishly offered to make him a brew. He accepted on seeing the semi skimmed milk lol.

True tale.
He didn't look for a dash of cream on the top, a la Irish Coffee style?

I was thinking about short-term national service as it'd instil some discipline into all the scumbags and make them more respectful of society. Look at how the older generations (who had to do national service) respected each other. The only consideration is - most people go to uni now when they didn't before, so you'd be delaying their careers by at least a year.

I don't think uni fees should be free (old fees were best value for money). Scotland has no problem having it free atm because the rest of the country props it up (unfair since Scots in a basic theoretic level become the educated class of the country since they can all go) - if all the country had free fees, everyone becomes too educated and expects jobs that wouldn't be there. You need "low-skilled" workers to prop up the economy and make society function - I don't think a constant influx of immigrant workers to do these jobs is sensible for a number of reasons.
Make the barrier to entry into university as significant as it used to be. I agree, university isn't for everyone, hence my idea for technical apprenticeships in the trades of today and tomorrow.

The last issue you mentioned appears to be because there is now a generation of Britons who simply will not do that work and would rather go to the office once a week for a cheque. No more. There has to be a disincentive to NOT working, NOT having more kids for more money, NOT living on the system.

I take it you don't drive much on motorways at night. I've drove on the M6 and other main motorways at all hours. There are often more trucks than cars in the night.
Well I've driven down south in the middle of the night and compared to the day they are empty, ye there are trucks but hardly any cars and that's the point. How many trucks cause problems compared to idiot car drivers?

I would bring in Land Value Tax and move the main burden of taxation from income to wealth. Thus encouraging people to work and discouraging land hoarding by supermarkets and the like. Ideally I would like to drop basic IT to 15p, higher rate to 30p and top rate to 40p. But you would have to phase this in and make sure LVT wasn't hitting people on modest incomes too hard.

I would also bring in a citizen's basic income for everyone, including millionaires. Then most benefits could be done away with, as well as the associated bureaucracy and eligibility checking. People would have a basic security that would enable them (if they wished) to take risks by starting a business or taking a degree.

I would completely reform education, copying the best practice from Europe and scrapping all outdated nonsense that is irrelevant to the modern world.

I would introduce a luxury tax. Example, any football ticket above £100 would attract a 5% luxury tax. If you can afford £100 to watch 90 minutes football, you can afford £5 for the NHS.

I would scrap the current 'good causes' BS for the lottery. Half profit would go to the NHS, the other half would be given to local councils to distribute to local charities.

I would scrap charitable status for education and religion altogether. Too much subsidy for well-off people. Besides which I don't see why the state should effectively subsidise religion.

I would build an absolute shed load of council houses to solve the housing crisis and pretty much do away with Housing Benefit altogether.

Finally, I would charge a small amount of NI on pensions above £25k a year (say 1 or 2%) to go to the NHS. After all, we oldies get a lot out of the NHS!

Most truckers are good drivers IMO, but the ones that indicate about 3 times then barge out bullying other drivers piss me off. And yes, many idiotic selfish car drivers out there.

But that wasn't your original point blue. You(words to affect of) stated there was fuck all on the road in the night. I was on the M6 at 2am recently and it was like a scene from the film Convoy. Hardly any cars though.
