Full Backs?

Alonso played for Sunderland, Moses was on loan with Stoke and they still prove that they are good enough to play for Chelsea and win the league.

Txiki should send scouts to Brazil regardless of what he does this summer. A lot of these world class fullbacks come from Brazil to Porto/Benfica and from there they go to top clubs to become world class.

We can't sign random Brazilian teenagers buy the dozen though so it doesn't really work as a plan. Portugal doesn't require work permits for Brazilians, so they can take punts on lots of these kids and some of them make the grade, but an English team wouldn't stand a chance of getting work permits for these sorts of players.

Who said anything about random Brazilian teenagers? Gabriel Jesus was 19 years old and he came from Brazil, he wasn't a random teenager. Imagine getting him from Porto or Juventus, it would've been 100 million like Mbappe.

Well you talked about the sort of player the likes of Benfica and Porto buy and they certainly aren't £27m proven internationals like Gabriel Jesus. Danilo and Alex Sandro both cost about £6-8m and involved some fairly dodgy third party shenanigans iirc. Neither would have stood a chance of getting a work permit to come to England. Getting players from Brazil to England is an absolute nightmare

Chelsea got Kenedy, he never played for Brazil's senior team, only for lower age groups.

Gabriel Jesus had mostly played for their U-23 and Olympic team, he made his senior debut for Brazil after he signed with us.

Top 5 fullbacks like Marcelo, Alex Sandro, Felipe Luis, Dani Alves as well as legends like Roberto Carlos, Cafu, Maicon all came from Brazil and they all played for Brazil at various age groups before coming to Europe. It's the country that defined the attacking fullback and they're churning out quality fullbacks like a factory. It's good to scout that country.

About 7 to 9 of the top 20 fullbacks in Europe may just be Brazilian. That's a huge share for a country that's not even in Europe :-)

Historically as well: Roberto Carlos, Cafu, Maicon, Carlos Alberto, Branco, Djalma Santos, Nilton Santos..

Historically Brazil played 4-3-3 and 4-4-2 double 6 without classic wingers crossing in from the byline but with playmakers, so Brazilian fullbacks covered the entire flank up and down. They produce great attacking fullbacks.

You can take some of their fullbacks and play them like wingers in Europe, like Michel Bastos who was Brazil's fullback in WC 2010 but played as a winger for Lyon. You could possibly do that with Dani Alves and Marcelo today.
