I see the Mail loves the new cuddly conservatism....

"Unashamedly moral", putting the needs of "ordinary" working families first, a better deal for "mainstream" Britain.

It takes a special type of chutzpah to put the word "honest" next to a picture of May.

Who says words don't matter.

Fuck me quoting the FT and Mail - explains a lot
Some of the lefties on here must spend every waking moment reading the Daily fucking Mail from end to
end, they appear to know all the nuances of it's political stance, everything it quotes, and why the rest of us
should never as much as glance at it.
Surprising really, I'd have thought the Mirror, or that other turgid tome, the Guardian would be more to their taste,
must be secret admirers, or closet Tories.

To be fair mrs May was very clear strong and stable " you will not have to sell your house to pay social care costs .......when you're alive" Such a comforting thought for the elderly and infirm
It's far more socialist than the current system.

If the kids shit themselves then they can actually help out. My grandfather had dementia and lived with us for four years after my grand mother died rather than rotting in a home.

So the twats are taking peoples houses again to pay for their social care after they have paid into the system all their lives. The £100,000 threshold is ridiculously low and penalises the poorer in society.
The current threshold is under £40k.

Not only did they manage to take my grans house (worth about 60k at the time) they also got stuck into the pension my grandad got from the military. The reason? dementia was 'mot on the list' of illness' that qualified for exemption. After 102 years of living, her husband fighting in a war and then being in the civil service until retirement she was able to leave her children exactly fuck all.

As someone who voted to leave the EU my intention was to hold my nose and vote Tory this time in order to protect Brexit as I saw the tories as the party most likely to deliver a true Brexit.

The news on paying for home care in the event of contracting a disease not on the approved list (ie: a 'dementia tax') has however changed my mind.

I am now voting Labour.

The tories spend your whole life telling you to "save hard and provide for your family". My parents have done exactly that as have both me and my siblings. Now I'm being told by these same tories that if I (or my parents) are unlucky enough to be a victim of one of these exempt illnesses it's tough shit mate. We'll take your house and your savings to pay for your care. Despite paying in to the system your whole life.

It's sick and it's immoral.

Don't get sick. Don't get old. Don't end up in any sort of need. You might well have paid in for decades but instead of using your money to provide for you in desperate circumstances we'll use it to give a huge tax cut to the 5% who can afford to send their kids to private school. We'll use it to give a huge tax cut to big business who already don't pay the full amount.

"Thanks for your Brexit vote you ignorant prole now don't bother us again"

Scum.

Honestly who gives a fuck what the daily mail says. you are obsessed with it.

just encourages the wrong behaviour - don't save - sell your house when the kids leave home spread it amongst the family when you're in your early 50's rent a house and when you start to need care the state will pay because you have less than £100k in assets - and you've had a fucking great time squandering the wealth. You may as well enjoy it rather than let some old folks home company get rich
Enjoy it by spending it and helping the economy rather than saving it?

The sheer hypocrisy is fucking astounding on this thread.
