Forget about Angelino. He is not going to make it at City. I would be amazed if we see him make a first team appearance for us ever again. Good luck to him but even without Mendy we have three or four other players we would choose to put at LB before we chose him.

Hes not a full back and in the Chelsea game this weekend I would rather have a guy who had play as a fullback there instead of Delph. Yeah Delph or Fernadhino can fill in there but they aint as reliable over a period of time compared to guys who has played that role for years.

FYI we have nobody that has played that role for years. Delph is THE most experienced player to play there as he played a few games for villa in this position.

We only have 17 outfielders including Kompany , Mangala , Toure and with respect Delph.

Yes only 10 start but if you want to go deep into 4 competitions then clearly its high time our academy started producing players ready for first team football on a regular basis.

We are talking about replacements in January when one of our defenders is now gone for the season and its clear we are short of quality in depth in a number of key areas that should have been addressed over the past few windows.

One of two more injuries and we are down to the bear bones again.

If we cannot rely on youth to come in and keep the results ticking over then clearly we need a larger squad to cover the inevitable injuries that will occur on an all too many occasion.

The academy and its relevance to us first team wise is under the microscope well and truly now and if it doesn't produce quality first team players you have to query its existence in the longer term.

We are woefully short of cover and this will become clear over the next few months. I agree fully than unless the likes of Foden and Diaz can actually make a difference on the pitch if and more likely when they are called upon we are in deep shit. Remember Delph is due to break down any day and Gundogen is extremely suspect as well we really are short. Oh Yaya better have some juice left in the tank.

Feel so disappointed about this. Was such a relief to see us go all out to secure the very best we could in the fullback positions and the dream is dead before Sept is even out. Rotten luck. With it being as bad as it is, I suppose we only need to manage until end of December as we'll most definitely buy someone in January if we struggle to manage the situation. I would love Bertrand but would he want to come on the knowledge he'd be second choice again next next season? Maybe Mendy's injury record is questionable enough that he believe's he'd get enough games long term.
