Guardiola now accused of ruining Italian football!

Let's hope he goes for a minimum of three, I'll wager he has a strong desire and commitment the youngsters mature
Agreed.

I really do think Pep will sign a one year extension at the end of the season. Hopefully he stays even longer. He will have a major impact on the league and many coaches.
Let's hope he goes for a minimum of three, I'll be surprised if he hasn't got a strong desire and commitment to mentor these youngsters into mature team, and then there's Academy players that will be coming through in the next few years. For sure Pep won't let any grass grow under his feet, but, imo, there's a good chance he'll be here a good few years.

Hope you are right. I would be surprised if he signs a three year extension so soon.

On the other hand it doesn’t make much sense to buy the best young talents in the world and then leave before they even get close to their prime.

I can see him wanting to stay to see out the development of Jesus, Sterling, Sane, Ederson, Mendy. Turn Kevin into a Balon D’or contender. Bring Foden into the first team and possibly the likes of Diaz and Maffeo.

There are so many reasons for him to stay a long time but a part of feels like it would be too good to be true.

The headline and the loaded language used in that article completely detract from the fact that nobody has accused anyone of ruining anything. He's just saying that Italian football and their defences in particular aren't adapting to how the game is evolving thanks to the influence of Guardiola and now Sarri. He isn't bitter, he's just acknowledging they face a challenge. You don't have to take it as compliment if you don't want but no need to let it fuel everyone's persecution complex either.
^^^^^^^Spot on^^^^^^^^

Don't know where folks are getting that idea from:

"Now, we need talented players up front, but we also need to bring somebody through in defence because we are never going to be able to play Spain's tiki-taka because it's not part of our philosophy," he said.

Edit, more: "I think Guardiola has ruined a generation of defenders. They think so much about setting up, widening, but they know little about man marking.

"The Italian defensive tradition is one of the great feats. For Italy to return to the top of world, they need strong strikers, yes, but also true defenders."

Its funny the information you are quoting I do not think other people, including myself, are viewing. The link provided certainly does not show these words hence he confusion and contrating opinions.

Man City's Pep Guardiola has promised to shake the team next summer - but what did he mean by it?

In the world of Pep Guardiola, the concept of perfection does not exist. He once said: “What I want, my desire, is to have 100 per cent possession”.

So while the rest of the world – apart from a few jealous fans of other clubs and the odd grumpy pundit - marvel at his latest creation, Guardiola is restlessly looking ahead. With his team eight points clear at the top of the Premier League and playing football with an elegance and grace rarely seen before, he is perhaps less happy than anyone else at the club.

He knows that his squad has its flaws and weak points, that they are a couple of injuries away from a problem, and that anyone who declares his team as champions until the maths are undeniable is a fool. Only last week he talked of having to 'shake the team again' next summer.

His shake-up comment this time was partly a reference to City's desire to bring in Alexis Sanchez on a free transfer once his Arsenal contract expires, as well as the need to strengthen the back four Benjamin Mendy's injury has driven home the message that the Blues are still short of a specialist left back – and Danny Rose, Ryan Bertrand, Napoli's Faouzi Ghoulam, Juve's Alex Sandro and Spain under-21 man Aaron Martin are all possibles.

City also need a new centre-back, and maybe two if Guardiola decides that youngster Tosin Adarabioyo is not the right fit for him. The faith in Vincent Kompany has backfired so far this season, with the Belgian out for two months with what was initially seen as an innocuous injury.

This just tells me him extending his stay here is the new worst kept secret in footy, also the best possible worst kept secret. I wonder what he means, interesting.

Like I've been saying, Guardiola has carte blanche to do as he sees fit at Manchester City, and has the full backing of everyone at the club. I honestly cannot see what reason he has to move now and not see his creation through to fruition. He's constantly mentioned City as being a '10 year project' to match the European elite clubs who have had decades to build their clubs up to elite status.

Ahh yes i remember reading your posts on Guardiola staying and nearly burst into applause haha. If he stayed 10 years i'd die happy.

Mmmmmm - that thought is niggling me too, my blue friend. Let's hope it's just because we've been conditioned to doubt after decades of City breaking our little blue hearts. LOL!
