Used to be a great one on schools road Didsbury can' remember it's name, any good ones, if I get Tony's chippy as a reply I'll personally battery and deep fry your pork balls.

Not quite in GM, but The Swann Inn in Kettleshulme is exceptional for fish dishes. They also do a decent steak but mainly a fish restaurant

It was called Burns Fish Restaurant but it's been gone for over 20 years. Whitebait in town was ok but that's gone as well. Can't think of any more.
