Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

We’d fill 60000+ no danger if it were expanded. There were empties visible when we were down to 45k and the situation is similar now at 54k. When all said and done, we’e doing great and they’ll always be empty seats. We’re not the only ones so why should we be bothered?

When our attendance is quoted as 54k plus (which it often is at epl games) there seems a few thousand empty seats. Why is that? That should be full capacity atm. I am not saying I am bothered or that we won’t fill a 60k plus stadium, I just don’t understand it.

People with Season Tickets not turning up. Attendance is measured on tickets sold not actual people through the turnstiles.

There were empty seats when it held 47k.

Just a combo of season ticket holders not turning up, third party sellers not getting rid and complimentaries (City group staff, families, sponsors etc) not taking them up as well.

Tends to look worse on tele though as loads of our fans come in late, leave early for HT, come back late and leave after 85 mins.

I literally haven’t seen thousands of empty seats at a league game for a long time. 10s maybe hundreds depending on the fixture but never 1000s

I was about to post that I think Marvin is correct, when I saw your latest post.
I was contacted by the Club in the Summer, as they needed to return my £100 deposit for the waiting list.
When I asked why; I was informed that as I had a Membership I was automatically on the Waiting list.

If you asked for the £100 deposit back, you are no longer on the waiting list.

If you allowed them to deduct the £30 for becoming a Citizen member, you retained your place on the waiting list.

My little lad has been on waiting list for two years and still we can't get seats together, barring some shit in the third tier on on the front rows.

Was about to take him off the list when email came that his place on the list would be maintained for £30, rather than a ton.

The problem with extending the North Stand to three tiers is the infrastructure behind it. The whole City Square would need to be demolished to allow the build out. I don’t think they will do it until they are ready to finish off the whole Etihad Campus, including the build out of the surrounding areas, or they get significantly more for the naming rights of the stadium.

If I remember correctly, when the planning application went in for City Square, City Square was advised not to be a permanent fixture, just a temporary addition, 5 to 7 years???. I am sure others may offer better comment than this.

That sounds about right.
Pretty sure they haven't yet got listed status, so should be good to go (they're effectively a few painted breeze blocks under a marquee).

Doesn't something similar apply to the actual casino site?

I seem to recall when City entered into the joint venture agreement, the land would revert back to the council if the site was not built upon within a certain time period?

I do know the financial crash and climate stopped City from finding a suitable partner.

We spent about £20m capping shafts - expensive car park that.
