Doesn't it just leave us in the exact same amount of trouble as everyone else if one of their strikers get injured?

There seems to be this prevailing idea that were particularly vulnerable at striker, but we're actually much better equipped than Chelsea, United, Spurs, Liverpool, Arsenal, Barcelona, Bayern and Madrid.

Suarez gets injured and Barca are relying on Alcacer.

As Lewandowski has been complaining about recently, Bayern have no back up at all as Muller isn't a proper striker and is already playing.

Madrid lose Benzema and they're relying on Borja Majoral to play every week.

You already know the domestic rivals don't have any one of Jesus' quality if they lose their main striker.

It's just how football is, you get a 25 man squad so if you lose a player in a key position you'll always be relying on the backup.
So basically you are saying because everyone else has a weakness in attack we should keep the status quo and remain weak ourselves

Or are you saying that because we are weak with defensive backups we should also remain weak with offensive backups to keep the status quo?

Not sure about that. United have four strikers in Lukaku, Rashford, Martial and Ibrahimovic, and Arsenal have Lacazette, Giroud, Welbeck and Sanchez.

Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool are in a similarly vulnerable position to us though, I'll give you that. Not a reason in itself for us not to strengthen though.

It's a 25 man squad game. That allows for 1 replacement in each losition roughly. Everyone has to rely on 1 player if one or their starting players is injured.

Up front is where we have the most depth of anywhere in the team.

Choosing to reinforce it over LB, CB or CDM just because we flirted with Sanchez in tje summer is a very poor idea.

Whatever

Just sign him in January and be done with it. With virtually our entire first team picked for internationals, we have more chance of injuries, and they have less chance of rest during the weeks off.
With Kim feeling dizzy, and God forbid Jesus picked up an injury, we would have been left without a recognised goal scorer for the weekend.

An extra reason to want Sanchez in Jan is we need to be able to rest KDB. KDB's main weakness is when he is knackered he can have periods where nothing comes off - eg. around the Monaco away game he was bang out of form for a number of weeks.

I'm convinced Sanchez could play in his position, perhaps with Gundo as he's more defensive than Silva. He shares some of the same qualities in that he is direct in his passing and running with the ball, a huge counter attacking threat and can deliver an accurate crossed pass - not at the level of KDB but better than most - and he comes deep often anyway.
Even if he can't play there he would still bring some of those same qualities. No matter where he is on the pitch he can create/score a goal out of nothing. Without KDB we don't really have that out wide or in midfield. Most of our brilliance has been about the team as a whole but KDB has made the difference at times - eg. CFC away, AFC home

Also, imagine how demoralising it'd be for whoever is closest to us in the PL come Jan to see one of the PL's best 5/6 players joining.

Anyone who thinks we shouldn't bring in a cut-price, hard-working, experienced, world class, versatile, goalscoring player like Sanchez is daft

Hence Liverpool suffering when Mane was injured and Chelsea when Morata was and Spurs lost the game Kane missed with injury.

It’s not something I particularly want to replicate.
