That's hugely impressive to have such a tactical and technical understanding at a young age. I wonder if we could bring him in, but with the arrival of Fred, game time would surely be limited?
He’s been playing at CB for a while now so Fred playing wouldn’t hamper de Jong. He’s best played at a CB, Sandler who we’ve bought has a similar style but de Jong is top level right now.

Stones & Laporte

No, De Jong is much more of a natural at what Pep wants.

He's 20 and doing the things Pep has taught Stones to do over 2 years at 23/24 years old. He's also so good at understanding the game that he can play CB, defensive midfield or attacking midfield. Stones and Laporte are great players, and "Pep players" but De Jong is something else.

We couldn't give him enough game time at CB or defensive midfield at the moment, but if some older players left in a year or 18 months time, there'd probably be space for him to play across both positions.

Quality player.
Game time may be an issue.
Our squad age is quite young now & it may be difficult to bring youngsters like Foden into the side for regular matches.
Would love to sign De Jong though.
