Running

heard on radio 2 this morning that smug sports reporter just ran 150 miles in Greece how the fuck can anyone run that far

Humans were born to run, we used to outrun any animal over distance.

Read the book born to run, it’s amazing!

There isn't the even the smallest chance a human would/could have ever outrun a pack of African Hunting Dogs
Our ancestors became apex predators by hunting during the hottest part of the day. Humans ability to sweat meant they could hunt and kill pretty much anything by chasing them down.

Over distance yes we can theoretically, over a distance race I mean rather than them trying to kill us!

They can run at 35mph for up to an hour so they'd smack us in a marathon.
Going by VO2max elite humans could compete with average dogs though. Then theres sled dogs(fittest animal on earth) who run the Iditarod race. 1100 miles in less than 9 days, pulling a sled whilst tied to other dogs in the snow.

You got it pal, persistence hunting was the ability that allowed us to dominate
