Actually, City haven't been officially cleared of anything yet. These stories are from a leak (probably from City to counter the Utd leak yesterday that James Ducker decided to publish).

And to be absolutely clear here, it would be FIFA who would be cleared of any wrong doing - Not Manchester City - as FIFA are the defendants.

FIFA could yet be found to have a poor set of rules yet retrospective action against City could be prevented because City actually asked FIFA if the Transfer was OK and FIFA said yes it is.

Hmmm, will the biggest trading, political and military bloc in the world have primacy or will it be a few old men in Switzerland who claim to run a world sport, difficult one that. I'll ask my mate Marc-Jean Bosman and get back to you.

It not that simple honestly, in effect the decision is to whether EU rules apply in respect of transfers from non-Eu member countries where the player is an EU passport holder.
