David Silva leaves City after 10 years

Sad end to his City career. I hope he doesn't come back and haunt us in the Champions League

Thanks for everything David. Will never forget that volleyed assist in the 6-1. Genius. You deserved a better farewell.

Peps insistence on gundogen unfortunately will be his epitaph on our greatest trophy winning era. No use living in the past and being humble I’m paying more than I can afford to watch us, in the 60s 70s 80s etc it cost more to go to the pictures to quote Swales today I sacrifice all my pension every fukin week home and away and do this to watch our city and therefore have the same rights to slag frank Clarke off as I do pep. Based on tonight and based on the theory of relativity then frank comes out on top

If I am honest, I am generally far to upset to post anything comprehensive in this thread tonight. I’ll leave that for when I’ve calmed down.

I will just say that it has been an absolute privilege to watch El Mago this past decade, he was an idol of mine since before he came to City.

He is one of, if not the greatest player to wear a sky blue shirt, and he did deserve a better send off.

Adios, David — usted nunca será olvidado.

Loved him but should never have been caprain .

When a player intimates that we wont be as hungry this season you have to worry.

Let down by Pep and his team mates tonight. Sad way to see him go, would’ve been a fitting end to his career with us if he’d lifted the trophy or at least made it to the final.

Quite surprised really. For the last few seasons, it was made out he would return home after finishing up with us, and that is where his heart was set on. I guess i had built up that romantic notion.

Great move for him, from a footballing point, one of the top 6 clubs in a top european league, still in the champions league!, with decent players and ambition, and may well challenge in cup competitions. Culturally too, who wouldn't want to live there. Shame the club culture doesn't exactly reflect the two, and their fans are a bit extreme, but other than that, good move.

I guess what puts a surprise on it is, a)the romantic notion of his return home while he still has plenty to offer football wise is gone.
b)the way the media put 2 and 2 together when reporting we had offered a 1 year extension, and he chose lazio because they offered him 3 years that he wanted as guarantees over his future, tries to hint at an element (that i know isn't there) of the club not doing right by him.

Either way, didn't think he Should stay, time to move on as the legend he is rather than risk a season with a bit part role or with a drop, and i wish him absolutely all the best. He'll do well in italy, slower league. And will have edin and kola for company, outwith the dressing room. They can all get together watch us in big games.
He has said more than 3 years ago he would like to return home to play for Las Palmas.
As time has moved on he decided he did not want to potentially let his fellow islanders down as he is nearing the end of his career and they would not see him at his best.

He would be playing for City again next season if they had given him the extra year when he signed his last contract, they didn't.

His next deal might be in the media as 3 years but it will be a 2 year deal with David having the option of a 3rd.
