RIP Ian St John...

Grew up watching Saint and Greavsie. Always thought his humour and integrity shone through.

He’s had a good innings and a seemedly peaceful death, surrounded by his family. Not a bad way to go.

He’s with Virgil now. RIP.
I know I shouldn't but I chuckled.

He was before my time but only ever heard good things about him.

Good player, uncontroversial and straightforward approach to the game. When the playing days were over joined Jimmy Greaves on TV. Saint and Greavsie was the original and best football "pundit" show. Never took themselves too seriously and called it as it was. Unbiased opinion on all teams. Current crop could do worse than watch a few episodes and see how it can be done.

A very good forward who had a successful strike partnership with Roger Hunt in the 60s, St John's role was eventually taken over by Kevin Keegan in the early 70s.

Saint and Greavsie were definitely better to listen to than Ratboy and Spit the dog.

RIP

An old one, but it's got to be said.
Notice outside Liverpool church:
" What will you do if Jesus comes to Liverpool?"
A wag added:
"Move St. John to outside right."
RIP Ian St. John.
The other oldie: Notice reads "Jesus saves"

Someone had added "and St John scores from the rebound"
