I can see both sides to the arguments for those who wanted him and didn’t want him

unfortunately we look like complete idiots for not getting ANY striker this season when everyone else around us has improved. Many talk about how only the prem matters, but then Chelsea are now better then us. If any of the games we have lost in the past few years have shown us anything it’s that we need someone to put the ball in the net when the rest of the team is having an off day. Ronaldo could have solved that, hell messi could have as well and he was a free. It is most definitely a huge disappointment to not add either of those two when they wanted to play here. It’s not like we signed a young striker that has a lot of promise like haaland or even vlahovic. We’ve come away with no one to put the ball in the net

What we know as facts:
We wanted Kane, Levy wouldn’t even entertain any bid so we left it there - can’t blame the board for that.
Mendes offered us Ronaldo. He wanted City. City was his first choice. We thought about it and decided against it - can’t blame the board for that.
We’ve just broken the British transfer record and won 3 out the last 4 titles - credit to Pep and the board.
Pep has confirmed he will stay more than 2 years if he is still welcome - excellent news.
What’s all the bed wetting about.
Yes we need a striker and we may or may not get one but I’d still back us to win the league
We left it there with Kane?

we were sat waiting around like a bad smell for months, we knew what the score would be with Levy.

Levy would only sell for crazy money, we , rightly would not pay it, so why wait around stinking the place out?

Why did we not spend all that time looking for an alternative, you know plan A,B,C,D etc, the plans Tixki tells us all about

Like him or not, we've given a title rival a free run at guaranteed goals whilst we go without a striker

Poor
United are winning absolutely nothing so long as they have that lobotomised cheerleader as manager. It's like he won a "be a manager for the day" prize at the local adult learning difficulties centre raffle and nobody had the heart to tell him to fuck off at 5 o clock.

One horse race to sign Kane mainly because other clubs knew Kane would only leave for City
City had a value which didnt match the sellers

One horse race to sign Ronaldo, was offered to City who weren't prepared to pay a fee
If it was a one horse race, then why is he going to another horse?

Messi turned his nose up at City one too many times

Maybe Lukaku was only prepared to go to Chelsea he was looking to move

No striker yet top goal scorers
Assume you’re happy going in to the season with Torres upfront?

stop making excuses

Another classic thread regardless, much more interesting than the Kane one! FWIW, I am one of the 74% and am a little disappointed we havent gone ahead. People chewing out the 74% should remember the vote was would we take him at City, not will we sign him or do you believe in Santa... from a football only perspective, we need a finisher and he would have been that. Onwards and upwards, we will still be in the running for all trophies regardless!
