I am scared to see the amount we will accept for Bernardo.
I swear Txiki taking bungs from Laporta if its any less than 90m.

if he would haved played at Barca as high level as he did her and would be a British player and would like to move back to UK they would laugh off any offer under 100m and we would see Romano, Moreno etc reporting Barca is insulted with an offer like that.

Bellingham isn't going to be signed this season either.
This. I suspect buying Bellingham next summer is one reason we've accumulated so much from sales this year. Means we have the funds in the bank to move quickly next year, to hopefully fend off any competition from the Dippers or others.

Not going to be sold this season

Wouldn't worry about the size of the fee. We'll never see a penny of any transfer fee from those lot anyway.

They went nuts with wages and contracts during the previous era. Even last year, they saddled themselves with short term signings Koeman wanted. I can only imagine they were sort of stuck with most of the deals being set in place by the time Laporta took over and was able to exert control. Either that or he really didn't have any other ideas.

Anyway, what happened last summer is a drop in the ocean compared to what happened before. Greizman, Pjanic, others turned out to be huge burdens, many millions a year more than they are worth. But also, the old guard got big, big contracts. Between Busquets and a few others, the next year or two, most of those contracts expire. Added to that, they've struggled badly with burden of the COVID era and Tebas's barely concealed bias towards Real and aggressive approach towards Barca's finances.

COVID was a shortish term problem that they were left unable to cope with due to what had happened after Neymar's sale. But the burdens of that era should fizzle out, and they'll be left with a good CL side, fighting for the league, with three or four astonishing homegrown talents to take them forward. Seeing themselves through to that point is worth it. They'll never get the Messi era back, but they should be ok.

It's strange to us to watch them act so aggressively towards their own players. But these guys have been caning it in. It's like the hangover we suffered after KK's era - but much much worse. What would you do? Imagine City right up against it. Force Majeure struck, equivalent to COVID. All the incomes and outgoings are changed, forever. We need four signings to stay in the PL. McManaman, Mills and Fowler have 3 years left on top dollar, having lost all form, and the desire to fight to get it back. Not only that, but others who do put the effort in, have accepted pay cuts.

What do we think of the ex Liverpool lot? Nothing, at best. Fat and lazy leeches, at worst.

De Jong is a better player, definitely a player, definitely sellable.. in that scenario, he's the equivalent of Joey Barton, minus the reputation. Ok, we want to keep you. But we can't pay you more than you'd get elsewhere. You've been offered moves. You apparently like it here. What are we going to do? You'd expect City's board to fight tooth and nail for that pay reduction. Everyone else has made sacrifices, Dunne, the Goat. All through the club. Why not him?
I thought FDJ had deferred wages for the past two years? How is that not sacrificing?

Do you know anything of his motivation mate? On the face of it he has everything. Lovely girlfriend, best manager in the world, a squad and fans that love him to bits, a team that is capable of sweeping everything before them. Nobody forced him into his contract. WTF?
He wants warm weather? It just doesn't compute. Anything you can share?

Wants to start a family with his missus and bring them up closer to relatives.

The guy was stuck in a flat in central Manchester during lockdown, can't begrudge him wanting a different lifestyle at this stage in his career.

Love him to bits, remains a top professional and respectful of City's stance, he won't gripe if nothing materialises for him this month.

Purely a lifestyle issue.

Deferred is hardly a sacrifice at all when you're a multimillionaire. And unless I'm much mistaken, others agreed to outright drops in salaries.

It’s lovely in here compared to the matchday thread.
I hardly go on there, it’s far too fluid for anyone to read fully without losing concentration on the match and it’s full of knee jerk, angry people discussing what just happened on their streams that are 15 mins behind.

I‘d say it was a worthless thread, but then I’d be a hypocrite about putting value on things.

From the fail:

Barcelona were so desperate to satisfy LaLiga's financial fair play rules this summer that they bought their own TV rights future revenue from themselves, and tried to declare the deal as new income. Spanish radio station Cope revealed the perfectly legal manoeuvre and confirmed that LaLiga did not accept the artificially-inflated declared income, leaving the club still trying to find ways to register all their new signings. Barca brilliantly dismantled Pumas on Sunday in their final pre-season friendly of what has been an extraordinary summer. And president Joan Laporta said: 'There will be no problem in registering all the players we have signed. We are on the right road (to doing that).'

Hmmmmm. That beats inflated sponsorship every day ;-)
