Donald Trump

Yep. Sadly his personal eealth is $2.6b - so not close to going bust yet. He may have a liquidity problem for a while mind.
He says his net worth is $2.6b.

In reality he begs his supporters for money and is willing to put his name to anything and everything to make a quick buck.

If he wants to appeal the rulings so far he has to put up over $400m cash.

Full judgment is here:

Trump Org keeps its business licences, Trump banned from doing business in NY for three years, Eric and Trump Jr. banned for two years. Weisselberg permanently enjoined from working in a financial function. Total fine $350m+ with interest. Monitoring continues, so he won't be able to illegally shuffle campaign funds around to pay this.

Will need to put up close to half a billion to appeal both this and the Carroll case.

Last year he bragged in his deposition about having $400m cash on hand. You can almost guarantee that's an inflated estimate because that's just the kind of shit he says. That would not be enough here.

The Trump Org may not be dissolved but it may well end up being bankrupted depending on its capital reserves and how leveraged it is (I would guess a lot).

Yeah, he's not worth nearly as much as he claims. Let him put up that bond and maybe I'll believe he's a billionaire.

Trump says his wealth is much higher - but I'm not going to defend the orange muppet.

Well, let's just bear in mind here that this entire case is based on Trump lying about how much things are worth. His comments on the value of anything should be approached with extreme suspicion.

I don't doubt he has a few mill squirrelled away in an emergency Saudi bank account but that's not going to help him here when he is under the purview of a court monitor. Every penny being moved will be scrutinised, and he's already fallen foul of it once.

Quote from Judge Engoron captures it nicely:

"The English poet Alexander Pope (1688-1744) first declared, “To err is human, to forgive is divine.” Defendants apparently are of a different mind. After some four years of investigation and litigation, the only error (“inadvertent,” of course) that they acknowledge is the tripling of the size of the Trump Tower Penthouse, which cannot be gainsaid. Their complete lack of contrition and remorse borders on pathological. They are accused only of inflating asset values to make more money. The documents prove this over and over again. This is a venial sin, not a mortal sin. Defendants did not commit murder or arson. They did not rob a bank at gunpoint. Donald Trump is not Bernard Madoff. Yet, defendants are incapable of admitting the error of their ways. Instead, they adopt a “See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” posture that the evidence belies.

This Court is not constituted to judge morality; it is constituted to find facts and apply the law. In this particular case, in applying the law to the facts, the Court intends to protect the integrity of the financial marketplace and, thus, the public as a whole. Defendants’ refusal to admit error—indeed, to continue it, according to the Independent Monitor—constrains this Court to conclude that they will engage in it going forward unless judicially restrained."
