Real Madrid post match post mortem

We've lacked that cutting edge for the majority of big games this season compared to last. Tonight compared to last season proved it in spades. Make up for last summer in terms of the transfer window and go again.
And it's exactly that cutting edge that cost us today, 25 attempts on goal, 15 corners that didn't even create a shot on goal, and it's not the first game. Arsenal, to name one, they came to us and played for a draw, and we had the same problem.

Time to forget tonight, go for the double-double, it's time we stuffed Chelsea, then we tie up the league.

Disappointing to lose to them again, they were distinctly mediocre. Stupid tactics in the first 15 minutes - appeared to be let them settle by not threatening their defence at all…contrast that with how we hammered into them last year - very odd
Big players tonight well off the pace….Phil was awful, Kev scored but missed a sitter & was not very good, but should have stayed on. Silva ran around fouling them and over- hitting crosses left right and centre…
Takes off 2 of our best penalty takers as well….
Saving grace is less fixture congestion in the weeks ahead.
Need to be careful here, could end up with zip all from the domestic season if we’re not careful. Tonight may have taken a lot out of the team, physically and mentally…

This. Superb tonight against a top opponent who played for an out like penalties. Cowards, hope they get walloped by Bayern.
I do but I can’t see it. I think they’d struggle against the pace of PSG though.

Even the TNT commentators couldn’t believe it was only 67% posession as we were so dominant. But to be honest the slow build up and constant square and backward passes has hurt us, and not for the first time this season. What has happenned to the team that used to hit opponents at speed ?

One thing that’s glaringly obvious, we’ve got no finesse with penalties at all. Nobody with a calm head to sit a keeper down before putting it the other way, those tonight were full of players with their heads down and committing to it.

Madrid’s players made sure Eddie moved before putting it the other way. Modric aside.
