Boycott the M*rror

The OS do a what the papers say, do you think they have received the same email.

Infringement requires publishing a substantive part or that part which is of most artistic merit. A few scratched headlines are not the same as pasting the entirety of a 400 word article. I didn't say that earlier as a Friday afternoon lecture on Copyright Law is not my idea of fun. The law is not abundantly clear on fragments but the copying of an entire article is quite obvious just a breach of someone else's copyright in the absence of a licence agreement or consent. Can I stop now? Cheers. ;)

OK here's and idea. Bluemoon What the Papers Say??? Cut and paste which bits of an article are shit/good and we can comment away.

Surely if they don't want their articles copied and pasted they shouldn't put them online? Once they are online they are in the public domain and we can do whatever we want with them? I would prefer to continue winding the twats up by cutting and pasting...

What happens if you screen grab an article and post the image, linked externally (like imgur)? Is that copyright infringement?

That's legally permissible as I understand it. The article has to be publicly available and you are allowed what's called 'fair dealing' to quote parts of it, as long as the quotes are accompanied by some discussion or criticism.

Exactly, PB.

I was going to suggest BM's own version of WTPS. It's a Manchester invention anyway [from Granada TV]. It seems safest to just stick to quoting the odd line.

Anyway, as everyone seems to hate the articles so much, it's strange that they are so angry about not being able to read them!
