Rags upset with City youth strategy (merged)

Staggeringly naive!
Quite simply - they are the greatest club ever in the history of everything and their place at the pinnacle of football must never be challenged- especially not by upstarts like City.
They have history and a noble tradition of bringing world-class youngsters through their academy and every great player would pay them just to get the opportunity to wear that glorious red shirt!
Their evidence is ,that it is just not fair, and they may well be forced to stick their fingers down their throats until they are sick , and we stink, and how dare we , now go away.
In other words, they're fullashit.

General feeling on Rag Cafe is that the reason for this is that we're poaching all their best young talents - oh the fucking irony. Ryan Giggs anyone?

Just looked on there, and they're moaning about us poaching their best youngsters. Boycotting playing us has been mentioned. This is the last post in the thread:

United being linked with Wolves 16 year old striker Niall Ennis today.Have seen him play a few times and he looks quick & a good finisher

Next up: "Manchester United lodge official complaint to FA that City are not conceding any goals, thus gaining unfair advantage". Bless the meek.

The big difference between the clubs is that City and our owners had a long term vision based on meticulous research into the very best around the world and how they work. They weren't afraid to knock on doors and watch and learn in order to pick the best bits and improve on them with our own Academy. They sought the advice of industry experts in order to make it the best not only in the Premier League, but in world football. Contrast that to the rags whose sole objective is to search out sponsors willing to pay them shed loads of money to have their name associated with the self proclaimed biggest club in the world, football is secondary to business as far as they are concerned. They have no management at the top level with the vision to look beyond this and plan for the football future, probably because of the arrogance of thinking every young kid in the country wants to wear their shirt, when in reality that bubble has burst, especially when City can offer more than just a football education. The fact most of the rags players and ex players prefer to send their sons to City speaks volumes

I don't very post very often. However I was talking to a Everton youth coach and they are already waving the white flag. They just can't compete on what we can offer. It's not about money it's what we can offer. I'll quote 'we can offer them football, but where is the education, where is the development outside of football, we're talking absolute peanuts to invest in kids and we choose not to'

Didn't Everton build a brand new state of the art training facility a couple of year ago, and then promptly sold it and are now renting it back?

For far too many years youngsters got thrown on the scrap heap if they didn't make the grade - the educational focus and wider developmental one is a good thing in itself. .

Agree with you. Let's also look at this from a different perspective, a lad I went to school with kept another boy out of the county team, the first was a clever lad, was encouraged by his parents to give up football for his studies and went to uni to do accountancy or business studies when it was not the norm to go to uni. The second went on to play for city and was sold on after a few games at first team level.
The first boy maybe would have made it as a better player but didn't take the risk. How many more make that choice every year?

We are giving the likes of the first boy the chance to do both, to pursue their dream as well as giving them a first class education and if he doesn't make the grade he loses nothing.

They dare not step up to the plate, our owners wealth has taken us to another level on every aspect of running a football club.
After all the years of being tormented by them, at school at work and down the pub, just sit back and enjoy the ride as the gulf between the clubs just gets bigger.
If they show interest in a player and we enter the race it's game over. If a youngster has a choice of City or Utd we will win far more than we will lose.
United are in a total spin from top to bottom and the speed that we have overtaken them and the plans that we have combined with not just the financial resources but the sheer quality if the executives that we have employed at all levels of our organisation will take one almighty effort to compete with us ever again.

The global City group is a master stroke by our leaders.

For our grubby neighbours to get back in the same ring with Manchester City they will need two things to happen.

1. A takeover by somebody with similar levels of wealth.
2. And even far more difficult to obtain by them. They need the above to have the skills in business, networking, planning , vision, structure, loyalty and class.

Man City Our team our club have won the lottery, the jackpot, the pools, the grand slam, grand national, Bully's star prize and the crackerjack pen when our owners chose US.

Good night and God Bless to Man Utd and all your trillions of fans around the world and enjoy living under a sky blue shadow for ever more.

We are not poaching THEIR talent. They don't have anyone we haven't got already.
If we are after a player and they are after same player, then player is not fucking THEIRS.

I've quoted both of these because the the first is essentially the answer to the second one. I know the second one wasn't a question but the way we operate is basically why they have got themselves in a twist about this. It's the latest in a long list of areas where we are fucking smashing them.

They are in a fucking spin. This isn't just about football anymore, as this current delusional small time argument is showing. The speed we have overtaken them in every single department is testament, a huge one, to our ownership. Honestly, I think we are the luckiest fans in the world that we have a group of people who wanted to invest in us for the right reasons.

At every level we are just fucking quality. Ultra professional.

They dare not challenge us. We are so powerful. The bitching to the media is as bad as it will ever get from our point of view.

Fucking delighted that I'm alive to witness it in its element.
