Thinking outside the box

Well that would be a silly thing to do wouldn't it?

Self-made millionaire? wonderful. But there should still be a limit. As I said I was talking about the extremes. There are people who are beneficiaries of legacy wealth who have done nothing to earn it. Being born isn't earning anything.. we can surely agree on that. In an ideal world, yes, all kids should start on the same line and the best performers *earn* the most pay, what's unfair about that? The world isn't ideal, and all I was saying was, stop the extremes. Money is made out of sweat and blood after all.

Well that's exactly what you're suggesting. A brain surgeon can save lives for 30 years and set up a family estate off his own hard work and the state can come and take half of it off him so that the local drunken idiots kid has a fair chance against the surgeons. Fuck that I say.

Children aren't always born at the same time also you are aware? so how would you get them to start at the same level? Are children born during a boom in the economy expected to have a cap on their earnings to subsidise children living during a recession?

what radical idea would you do if you could to improve the country or the way things are done. After the driving hell of the smart motorway construction and it's possible extension to the M60 mine would be, all HGVs only allowed on the roads between 9pm to 7am, the trucks wouldn't have to pay road tax therefore those savings could be used to pay the extra to the drivers. This would also need large areas for the trucks to park until they started again or obviously the stayed parked at where they dropped off. This would allow the rest of the country the use of the motorways during the day, hopefully causing more free flowing traffic obviously cars can also use at night.
My other would be 5p in income tax to pay for the services we all really want.
Fuck off, I like it in my box.

It really wasn't what I was suggesting. I think i said (on 2 seperate occassions) that the extremes should be dealt with. I have no problem with Mr Brain surgeon.

I am aware the economy fluctuates and children are born at different times... *sigh* yes. There is no same starting line, that's the point. The game is rigged from the get go, all I was suggesting is that legacy wealth helps nobody, it in fact creates a problem. It diminishes the value money has, it makes a mockery of the concept of 'earning'. There should be caps. Society wont collapse just because we put a ceiling on wealth. People just shouldn't be allowed to become preposterously wealthy (I'm talking what? 50 million+ into the billions. I am still for incentive economics. We should still have that mechanism of 'getting ahead' but we should try to cut out the bullshit extremes we have now. Nothing particularly outlandish about that.

You say you're only talking about the extremes, assuming they'll be a limit on a very large number, but then you're also talking about making it equal for all new borns.

Just capping the highest earners won't change life for the vast majority though. You have children in the same postcode going to private schools and their neighbours going to state schools. You have children in the same postcodes being given £1000's for a boost in life whether that can be a car at 17 to travel to work or to have private tuition and their neighbours get nothing and rely on basic schooling.

Your idea will only make it equal if you radically change society as a whole. Capping the top 5%'s inheritance won't close the gap between say... poor kids in Wyntenshawe to posh kids in Chesire.

The only thing it will achieve is to make socialists feel a little warm inside.
