Decrease Corporation Tax for small/medium businesses. Increase it slightly for large businesses.

Increase NI contributions & ring-fence for the NHS.

Points based immigration system.

No benefits at all for those who can work but refuse a job.

IVF & plastic surgery (except for medical reasons) to be taken off the NHS.

House of Lords to become elected only.

Eliminate the different rates of tax and set a personal allowance of about £18,000 and a single tax rate in the range 30-35%. I've not worked the numbers out but the aim should be that it's tax neutral overall, so say 32%. Align tax on dividends with the same rate and allowances.

It would make tax liabilities much more simple to calculate, straightforward and efficient to collect and the rich would be less likely to seek to avoid paying it. A whole load of people on low pay would be taken out of the tax system altogether. Anyone on less than £18k a year shouldn't be paying tax at all, imho. What on earth is the point of taking money off people, only to give it them back again in rebates and allowances? All that does is adds a boat load of inefficiency and pays for a load of civil servants to do the admin. Ridiculous.

Keep it simple sunshine!
It would certainly get votes from the low paid and the high paid, but it won't go down well with those that earn between £29000 and £69000, particularly those earning around £45k who will be paying nearly £2000 extra. Meanwhile someone on £250k would be nearly £20k better off.

A fairer way of redistributing the tax burden would be to lower the NI rate and remove the Upper Earnings Limit. If Class 1 NI was changed from 12% to say 9% above the Lower Earnings Limit that would reduce the tax burden for all but those on more than about £60k.
