Sam Allardyce resigns from Palace

I find it hard to believe that Allardyce has retired. I can see him back at some Premiership club in January next season.

Top manager, saved so many clubs.
Agreed. With his style of open, flowing football. He should be managing Barcelona or Real Madrid.

Get a grip. He's good at what he does, ie, keeping struggling teams on the gravy train with his brand of dour, defensive hoofball, but as a "top" manager, why haven't the better teams come running for his services? (Quite possibly because football has moved on, and his tactics are a throwback to the 70s/80s)

Sorry, is this the Mourinho thread?

He is limited but nowt wrong with being good at what you do. There are plenty of football managers around who seem to be absolutely terrible at what they do and plenty more who it seems like tossing a coin as to whether they are going to do a good job at a particular club or not. With Allardyce, clubs know what they're getting and it is done consistently well. I think he's excellent. Pity he's a **** though.

Great at what he does. If I were a club favourite for relegation he's exactly the man you want in. He could easily have your club mid table season after season with a limited budget. Not sure how many managers could pull that off

I wouldn't fancy being a manager, most get less than 3 hours a sleep at night if they're struggling
