i'm sure i heard or read, during that icelandic volcano thingy a few years back,
that there isn't enough room at all the airports if for some reason all the aeroplanes in the air suddenly needed to land at once.

It's a myth mate, there's enough room across the world's airports. If they all needed to land suddenly though some may struggle with enough holding airspace, we'd probably have to accommodate a few at military airfields.

off topic, as a youth, for many years, i planned to be a fighter pilot like your good self,
simply because in the long run i wanted to be an astronaut.
(my earliest memory is as a 5yr old sitting for hours in front of my nan's b&w tv watching the apollo XI countdown.)
alas, my uncontrollable fear of deep water scuppered me.

Hearing everything in the £32-40m range atm, anything over £32.6m will be a record fee in Sterling, but it would have to be £46.2m or more to set the actual record (exchange rates).

That's just turned to be taking the same path as others heading to England

Certainly heading in a straight line to Manchester and at its maximum speed, so in a hurry and not worried about the cost of fuel.
