Remember coming home from school and sitting on the rug watching play school eating banana butties.

Play School presenter and actor Brian Cant has died at the age of 83. He had been suffering from Parkinson's disease.


He died at Denville Hall, a retirement home for those in the entertainment industry.

A family statement said: "It is with great sadness that we, his family, have to announce that Brian Cant has died aged 83 at Denville Hall.

"He lived courageously with Parkinson's Disease for a long time.


"Brian was best known and well-loved for his children's programmes Play School and Play Away and was honoured by Bafta in 2010.
 
Always liked Brian Cant, he had one of those smiles that you immediately warmed to. Very sad to hear of his passing as another icon of my childhood leaves us!

RIP Brian and thank you for your warmth!!
