Star Trek is about humanist ethics and philosophy with a strong anti-war message.

Doctor Who is about God and the morality of interventionism. They're opposites in that way - the Doctor serves as a deity who ultimately powerful whereas Trek is about a Universe where humans cannot rely on deities.

Q serves as God in Trek. He's untrustworthy, suspicious, nefarious and cruel. Humanity would be better off without him.

The Doctor serves as a God in his programme and he's moral, brave, strong and wise. Humanity would be lost without him.

Star Wars is a Japanese Wild West film set in space.

Q isn't a god, there are no gods in Star Trek only more advanced or evolved alien species that may look godlike to other species, many episodes especially in DS9 puts that premis across as do some in the OS. The Q contunum are not to be the only all powerfull entity in the universe, there were several in the OS (though retrospectively the squire of gothos is now classed as a member of the Q).

Also the federation is more a socialist/semi communist system where the invention of the replicators made a society without the needs for either the owners or workers in the means of production leading to the new world economy and an egelatarian state where advancement of society is the only goal, religion still exists on several federation planets, but it is seen a as a personal issue and not important on the whole, money also exists but seems to be also not overly important.



I agree with doctor who in the reboot has now been given this god like persona rather than the wandering traveller.

Money doesn't but non fedrration planets still use it thats why in the ferengi bar on DS9 federation personnel still pay in credits or latinum, so it is about but not important as it isn't necessary in the federation, money can be replicated by anyone as can precious metals and gems so have no value.

I get what you mean about the Q but in the whole trek universe there has been several other omnipitent species, that have been encountered.
I took it more like the premis that was in babylon 5 that all species will evolve into an non corpureal form and be one with the universe and able to both control and manipulate it, and that once free of the shackles of our limitations the human species will one day achieve this.

Bear in mind when ST first aired the screen was full of macho male heroes, but Billy- boy was the one I wanted to be, urbane, forceful, fair minded but could kick anyone's arse when needed. Also made some of the most surreal albums in history, the Hendrix of kitch. Live long and prosper Bill.
