Kylian Mbappe

This kid is dynamite. We don't want to miss out splurge the cash, our front line would be sorted for years.

However, not confident we will get him

If we can't get Mbappe or Sanchez and we plan on playing 361/352 quite often, fuck me get Van Dijk before someone else does!

A French Journalist on Talksport saying that
PSG has an agreement with Mbappe but not Monaco.
Tolmie did say last week that City had struck a deal with Mbappe, so it sounds like it's a case of which club are Monaco willing to do a deal with.

Even though he is still a kid, I find it rather surreal that he would sooner stay in a substandard league, than either, a) play for Madrid or Barcelona, or b) play under Pep.

A couple of grand surely isn't the issue?

Utterly bizarre that he wants to remain in France. He will be ties to an enormous contract and his buyout will likely be higher than Messi's.

So in 3-4 years, if he fancies moving to England or Spain, unless he insists on a clause, he's trapped.

Ah well, soon find out.

Don't know how this will/wont affect things regarding this saga. Being reported here in Spain this morning . PSG after Athletico Madrid keeper Oblak (100mil buy out clause) PSG defender Meunier maybe on the way to Real Madrid

Whether people like what I am saying or not here, I honestly couldn't give a shit...

Looking at PSG and Manchester City before this window, teams such as Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid probably didn't take us seriously, especially competing in the champions league. Looking at last season PSG lost the league to a side assembled on a pretty small budget and lost in that thrilling game v Barca in the dying seconds. Especially that night in Barcelona was the turning point for their owner. He must have been thinking to himself that for all the money spent, I am not reaping the benefits from it in terms of properly competing on the champions league stage. PSG have only ever been to the quarter finals and for a team with their financial power, it isn't good enough. The owner has gone about his business in a ruthless fashion this window with the main objective in mind to win the champions league at all costs. He has completely shook the footballing world by paying Neymars buyout clause and taking him from arguably the most glamorous football powerhouse in the game. He has humiliated them and shown the footballing world just how powerful his money can be. Now he is getting the next biggest french talent who looks destined to be a star from the clutches of the other big superpower, Real Madrid. The statement of intent shown here has been utterly mindblowing.

As for City, I think our business has been superb this summer, but I just feel we could have gone the extra mile for Mbappe to set the same intent as PSG did with Neymar. In the nine years or so the Sheikhs have been here, we have not really come close to champions league silverware, we haven't really challenged much given the amount we have spent. We haven't won a premier league for 3 seasons and for a club like us that are going places, it is dissatisfying. I do think with Pep though, we are entering a new era and we are building a very good side for the future, but I still think our board should push the boat out and go that extra mile to give pep what his squad needs.

The best thing for PSG was the huge wake up call they received last season from losing the league and dropping out of the champions league in extraordinary fashion, but they have certainly come out all guns blazing with the shackles off this summer.
We have 1 major factor AGUERO.

Sergio is already 1 of the top 3 forwards in world football then we have 1 of the best young kids in the world ANOTHER forward.

PSG have Cavanni who they would replace in a heartbeat.

It's as simple as above.

We haven't added £90m per year to the accounts as PSG have done with Neymar

Neymar alone is a 5 year £450m investment. Dani Alves will also cost them £24m over 2 years, so over £100m per year.
For comparison, the 5 year cost of Ederson, Danilo, Mendy, Walker, Douglas and Bernardo is £320m or thereabouts (if that), or £64m per year - something the large amount of outgoings cover

We had a slightly higher revenue than them before the new PL TV deal - which will go up 60% as of last season. (accounts not yet released)

PL clubs can also look forward to another increase in TV money from foreign broadcasters in 12 months too, iirc.

We could easily afford Mbappe so long as we didn't go crazy next summer, which is clearly not the plan. Maybe a top DM, a CB and Sanchez on a free with Kun and Toure leaving.
PSG are gonna struggle to deal with the cost of Neymar. Add Mbappe to that at the prices being mentioned? Forget it. UEFA won't fall for any Third Party "ambassador" nonsense either, and if that was put on the accounts at "fair value" unamortised? pmsl

Good post mate.

I can only see two possibilities at PSG:

1. They are not in for Mbappe at all, which should not be that much of a surprise considering they have said they are not, and clearly the finances would be a problem.

or

2. They have some huge new spoonsorship deal or other commercial revenue in the pipeline. A massive hotel or chain of hotels or casinos or something ridiculous. Something that is going to boost their revenues dramatically.

Some people are suggesting that they have just told UEFA to stuff FFP. This is imho nonsense. FFP is not dead and they would be sanctioned, for certain, if they simply chose to ignore the rules. They are a professional outfit and there's no way on planet earth they have simply decided to ignore the rules. Would UEFA just let them get away with it? No chance. They'd have transfer bans, squad restrictions, fines and possibly (probably?) CL disqualification. They are not signing up for that. Either they have a shed load of as-yet unannounced revenue heading their way, or they are not in for Mbappe.
