Roberts going back to Celtic means he won't ever make it at City or in England, apparently? And yet, nearly everyone on here thinks we should be paying +£70M for a centre half who spent two full seasons at Celtic, going there when he was 22? People making as much sense as ever.......

It doesn't mean he won't make it at City or in England, but it's just very disappointing that he's taken the easy option in going back to Celtic and it seems to suggest that he at least lacks ambition.

So let me get this straight: Pep wants Pat Roberts to stay & play for City but he's asked to go to Celtic instead & that's why people are slagging him off ?

If so, where has this come from ?

All he's wanted is cast iron assurances he'll get playing time & a chance. Prior to now he's been told he will & then sent on loan! He could of stayed at Fulham & had his education for a few seasons rather than Celtic but City made promises.
If Pep is now saying "you'll play" you can understand the lads hesitation as he's heard it all before. So does he take a risk or move again to a club he's been made to feel welcome at?

Where are we getting the info from, that Pep has told him he wil play ? As he has barely mentioned him in the last month, or played him.

Yes but the guy in question wanted to play at a higher level given the opportunity, Roberts by all accounts had the chance and settled for returning to Celtic. No shame in that, but as a career move not one that is likely to end with playing at the highest level.

Or he loves the club and environment and has trust that he can learn and improve under a coach who has faith him in. They also compete in champions league and are a winning team. Growth seems easier when you are on a high, which winning, and being a key player, seems to do to one. I think it's a good move for him. He knows what he's walking into.

But he'll be playing against substandard opposition every single week. They could easily draw Real and PSG in the Champions League and suffer 4 hammerings - what's he going to gain from that?
