The dubious red seems to be an excuse for Lpool whereas Klopp´s anger at the players attitude should be the main topic for the media.

Demolished by City, fans left early in droves and players giving up.

That was a display by LPool that simply destroyed their reputations for their fans support of their team and never say die, fight to the finish attitude of their players.
We were that good yet a red card takes priority.

We were clinical with our finishing and could have had more goals and L`Pool were completely demoralised for a lot of the game. Their fans recognised this and deserted their team. Seem to remember we gained fans when we dropped divisions never mind lost to a top team so mission accomplished.

I hear what you say, but going for the ball was always priority. For the ball, not the man being the point. If you got the ball first it wasn't a foul. Things have changed, interpretations have changed. Remember this (mirror image of today) from 1982

This is not really the same. The keeper clearly played the man with no attempt to get the ball - that was the reason everyone was stunned when the ref showed no card and not even a foul. If I remember right, Battiston was down quite a while and possibly the ref just forgot.

They lost a striker so effectively went 1 up top which lots of sides do anyway but the way the media has circled the wagons around them you would be forgiven for thinking they lost both CB's and the keeper!

We played fantastically well and would have won the game 11 v 11 imo as our finishing was clinical but they did effectively give up yesterday and for any side that's not good enough.

As far as I am concerned it is simple, it he raises his foot clips the ball over Ederson and makes no contact with him then its fine, however the risk is if he doesn't then it is correctly a straight red.
Even without contact it should have been a yellow card or at least a foul with Ederson so close.

Sorry mate, disagree. They were playing down a potentially career ending piece of play. Yes he should go for it but not with his foot and not by jumping 2 feet off the ground when he knows that the keeper is going to go in with his head. Linekar had already played his cards on social media and it felt to me that it was scripted to fall in line with his earlier views. Embarrassing

Totally agree, the bbc dont like us and in all honesty motd is absolute garbage with the views of people who may have played the game but dont really hold intelligent views. Linekar's tweet basically sums it all up - if it had happened to leicester or spurs then their view point would have been different imo.

It was definately a straight red for the reasons you state above.

How can a foot off the floor with stud showing threatening a players ankle or leg be deemed as a straight red card yet a foot at head height and studs showing straight into a players face be unlucky and not a card for some?

The truth is they all think its a red card and a 3 game ban but yet again its a media trying desperately to set a narrative in order to sway a decision and favour one of their pets.

Annoying we're not getting enough credit for destroying a title rival and being ruthless.

Not our fault Mane kung fu kicked our keeper, the way we played after meant Liverpool couldn't cope. Plenty of teams go down to 10 and still get a result. We battered them and they couldn't live with it.

Typical BBC bollocks this morning emphasising as many positives as possible for Liverpool, not to read too much into the result, etc, etc. No mention of Leroy's wonder strike or Aguero's movement making Klavan look like a chimp.

Not seen the Guardian's take on it yet, I'm assuming it will say Salah was man of the match and Liverpool would have won if Ederson hadn't headbutted Mane's studs.

We get week after week after week of shite refereeing decisions and as soon as we get one in our favour the whole fucking world is up in arms about it!

It WAS a sending off though.

It wasnt so much in our favour it was just the correct decision.

Does Mane have some weird affliction which affects his peripheral vision??

We've all played the game of football at some level, and whilst you might be running and looking at the ball, you know exactly where the opposing players are! Mane knew Ederson was coming, he could see the ball was high and 50/50, and should have backed off. Red card all day long.
