Is anyone else not getting excited?

I am trying that too Karen, not really sure if it is working or not. Defeats always hurt but when we were shit we got used to them and I just enjoyed the day and hoped I would see some good football...and the odd win. I am try to go with the philosophy that we have some wonderful talent now so I should see some excitement every game. As for the OP's question I never get carried away watching is I need a three goal cushion before I can even think about relaxing lol!

Football's supposed to put you through the wringer. That's why there's the euphoria for every goal and when a game is won.
If it was so easy, no one would care ;-)

Plus we all know we are better than all these bloody charlatans.

last year's opening burst fizzled out due to various circumstances, mainly due to a back four not up to the level needed. Although the media pundits kept saying we had the best squad, we really didn't. This time we have a much younger team, and no-one can afford to coast with the quality on the bench and Pep's eagle eye looking for any sign of slacking. Been a football fan for too long to worry about stuff that might happen, I believe the manager has prepared us for a successful season as best he can, that's all i ask. If the unthinkable happens and we go on a run of bad results i will be truly amazed. In the meantime I shall revel in the sumptuous football our blueboys are serving up, the like of which leaves me grinning like a kid on christmas morning. And we can get better still....

Pathetic, you need to grow a pair, any fan of any sport who chooses a club to support, that's it, through thick or thin. In the last 6 years we have watched footballing porn, some people are never satisfied, wtf.

Last year we didn't take a lot of our chances, couldn't do shit from corners, had FBs who couldn't play Pep's system, had a nervy keeper and looked downright comical at times playing out of the back . . . even during the bright start. All those issues appear to have been resolved to this point. They're all linked, of course. But I see real improvement in our style and our confidence thus far. I noticed it in the pre-season. Hopefully all these trends continue. This year will be about avoiding injuries and, in my view, the ability of Fernandinho and Gundogan to control MF against quality sides.

But like others I'm just going to enjoy the ride and not expect too much too soon. The Prem will be a dogfight -- we know this; the CL and Cups are a function of draws. Regardless of outcome, we are playing breathlessly entertaining football so far, and in Mendy we have quality and a court jester (in a good way), which is another thing we've been missing since Balotelli left.

Watching Clichy getting fucked every week is one way of looking at it I suppose.

Much calmer this season, i expected so much more from Pep last season as i bought into the 'Pep is God' stuff and looking back it was unrealistic.
He's just a manager, albeit a good one and nothing is guaranteed but i genuinely believe this season is going to be a great one for us.
