Napoli post-match thread

I thought Walker, Fernandinho had bad games and Sané had a bad first half, which unfortunately coincided with the period when we should have put the game away and a few times he made poor decisions in attack, but kept going and looked much better in the second half.

I also think that's the toughest team we'll play until February, so if we can still beat them with some players having off-days' then you can't complain.

Ederson, Stones & Otamendi were absolutely fantastic in every aspect of the game.

Fernandinho looked exhausted, and again, while no one in England are going to work us as hard as Napoli, he needs to be kept fit.

I'd add Jesus to that bottom list too...Was making fantastic runs all game, a lot of which went unnoticed by team-mates.

Napoli were very good, but we made them look better than they are because after 35 minutes, we lost our concentration & discipline. Hopefully all talk that we're Barca 2.0 will now end, we're City 1.5 & still a work in progress.

The baffling thing for me was Sane staying on & Sterling going off. Tonight ot was like the Sane of pre-season & his lack of quality & his poor touch caused a loss of confidence down our left. He should have been taken off for Bernardo Silva on 60 minutes.

2 goal line clearances by Napoli made tonight more difficult for us & the penalty save, saved are arses. All in all, it's a lesson learned & the reality of what we're like will hopefully make all fans & players alike realise that no-one is gonna sit back & allow us an unchallenged procession towards success.

This is hopefully the good that will come out of tonight's game, plus the 3 points obviously.

Incredible first 30 mins - was going to say pretty much as good as it gets, but there's still more to come from us, which is a fucking beautiful thought.
Felt the concentration went from about 35-40 mins - too many wrong decisions, especially at the start of the second half. Jesus and Silva both guilty of fucking up great chances to finish the game off in the first 5-10 mins or so.
Last 30 mins was heavy going, amd we made it more difficult than it needed to be, but we dug in and held on. Thought Stones and Otamendi were excellent. And as plenty have said, they are a top side - they'd wipe the floor, 9 times out of 10, with the other English teams. So a great result in the end, 9 points from 9, happy days.

Good win but some kamikaze and needless passing around our penalty area.
We wont win it if we don't learn to quell some of this against the elite teams the further we go on.

Good result against a good team. More work to be done, we need to get Bernardo and İlkay going here soon. Can’t take Kev out with his form lately but he’s going to need some rest pretty soon. Stones and Ota had some BIG saves as well as Fern. 3 points job done

3 points well deserved against a top team. Nothing to complain about there. Ghoulam looks like we should buy him in January

First 35 minutes were brilliant but missed a few opportunities that could've put the game to bed early on. After that the level dropped off and we let Napoli back in the game.
Silly penalties conceded, making it needlessly difficult for ourselves. Need to keep the concentration up going forwards and we'll be alright.
Ederson and Stones were fantastic and kept us ahead. Sané was a bit disappointing.
Overall great win.

The players are going to need a long rest after tonight, Saturday's game will be another test to see how well we can rotate the squad.
