What is there new and worthwhile to do in Manchester?

Ignore him he lives in Northants. Even though he's right, still ignore him
I can’t imagine it is worse than here in Boston (“New” England, in general), anyway. I always take these sorts of comments with a grain of salt, especially from some of the people I know which have a tendency of being a bit highminded, but I was genuinely surprised how hard the opium problem hit this region when we moved here. I volunteer at a local shelter and there’s not a week that goes by that we do not have to call in the police for a drug-related incident.

Whitworth Gallery, Museum, Curry Mile. Grand day out.
Or Salford Quays: The Imperial War Museum and The Lowry.
I’ve never been to Whitworth but the missus is a designer/artist (has a terminal degree in Fine Arts) so I wonder if it is worth a go.

I am coming to Manchester tomorrow :)

In typical fashion City are not at home this weekend, how dare they and Depeche Mode to conspire to not be in Manchester at the same time, I will however be visiting the ground and the xmas markets on Saturday.

Can you get a tram from bottom of Hyde road(holiday inn) to the M.E.N arena or tbh even into the town and or a walkable distance :)

My missus is in her final year of a BA in Fine Art. I see art in a whole new light these days. The Whitworth is well worth a visit.
I know what you mean. My studies were in maths and economics so, while I did go to the occasional gallery and show, I never really appreciated what I was seeing when I was younger. Or, if I did, it was for more of a technical reason.

Having been with my missus for coming on a decade now, being exposed regularly to the process and outcomes (she always has a studio in our home no matter where we go), I have a completely different appreciation and understanding of what I see. It’s something I hope everyone can experience.

Thanks for the recommendation, we’ll probably pay it a visit.

I'm sorry to hear that, is there nothing the doctors can do ?
Her father is an architect, her sister a singer/songwriter, her brother is in a very successful band that has just signed a new record deal, and her other sister teaches fine arts at university...

So, no, there is nothing that can be done for me. ;-)

As far as I recall there are buses that go from down Hyde Rd to City Centre.

And enjoy your time!
