Reflections on the "oil money" matter

The money from Champions League football from the nineties and especially the early noughties onwards killed off any real chance of competing at the top without external investment for any but those clubs. This in turn grew their income further as younger fans gravitated towards these teams instead of their local clubs.

First caller on 6-0-6 this evening was a Dippers fan. When asked how far away they were from City, he couldn't wait to mention the "Oil Money". This media narrative is obviously being bought by other fans, who are just using it as an excuse for their team not being able to compete with a much better team.

We are not only better on the pitch, but off the pitch in terms of facilities, training methods, transfer strategy and youth development. Were are setting the foundations of a strong, competitive club for seasons to come (unless the football authorities find a new way to screw us over since FFP failed so miserably).

As other have said, the original Sky Big 4 cartel benefited hugely from the Champions League money swishing around in the 90's and early 2000's. And where was the media negativity towards the Scum, who were regularly breaking the transfer record and rattling off trophy after trophy? F**king non-existent; that's where. Hypocrite's the f**king lot of them.

We have been in profit for three years, have passed FFP rules, and get our money from the same sources as everyone else: gate receipts, sponsorship, and mostly TV cash. Someone on here estimated we get only around 11 per cent of all revenues from Abu Dhabi related sources ie Etihad. In fact we don't get any money from oil at all do we? Chelsea get more from the fuel industry via Gazprom. It's just more fake news from our enemies. One day the Rags, Arsenal and clowns like Liverpool and Spurs will wake up and realise we have totally outflanked them. Our business model is leading the way for the world of football.

Did he mention how Liverpool benefitted from the Moore’s family money? Nah didn’t think so.

I bet the Flemish poster joining a month after KDB signed was a complete coincidence; these arguments go back 25 years an beyond.
