Talksport

I had to laugh yesterday when the educated and erudite scouser Joseph Barton was discussing potential managers to replace Hughes at Stoke. Barton suggested the dream team of Martin O’Neill and Roy Keane, because the Stoke owners normally appoint managers from Great Britain. Geography not your strong point then Joey?’

Gough on now advocating that young footballers should be allowed to drink in the run up to games........
Tbf he disagreed with Neville on no drinks whatsoever for 7 days before any game. As he said that would mean no footballer especially the young uns having any booze from August till May. Not a drop. Thats pretty hard to do.

Any young sportsman who wants to be at the pinnacle of their sport shouldn't drink at all during the season, they can have a bit of a blow out at the end of the season then knuckle down once pre-season starts. No wonder the majority of English players can't make that step up to world class.

They can drink and party all they want at 35 when their careers are over.

Drives me mad seeing certain players in situations in papers, some really don't know how lucky they actually are.

Doesn’t seem to be that difficult for most of the none British players though. English players, pretty good at all levels up to under 21, get some cash and start ‘being board’ and drinking, then they all tail off and disappear. You’d almost think there might be a link there.......
