Is Micky Terry Ian still part of the deal? If so, they can agree what they want but it aint happening if Micky says no. Wouldn't it be magnificent if Arsenal string them along like they did us and he ends up going no where. He can rot at Arsenal for all I care now.
If he re-produces his last 4.5 years then it would be terrible, but logically at 29 to 34 he will not, therefore I want Utd to buy him.

They bought Lukaku for £90m. If they buy Sanchez then that's 2 forwards they are stuck with for years. Neither in my opinion are world class, therefore their transfer spending, rather than challenging us, and eating into the distance we've put between us, just cements the gap between City and Utd.

In football terms this is a coup for the Rags. How much of a blow to us it turns out to be remains to be seen. Hopefully, we'll get by this season and strengthen in the summer.

The Rags show no signs of matching us when it comes to strategy but that could change and we cannot pretend that they are not a huge cash cow, which will help keep them competitive for now. We've needed to be smarter and have been; we need to keep that up.

We are fortunate that the rags have been a little lazy in their strategy, buying big names, big fees without necessarily any long term planning so that they have spent big without spending wisely. The regular managerial turnover post Ferguson has meant they constantly buy for the current manager. They have been in around the top 4 without threatening to win it but it hasn't hurt their earnings and as such the Glazers seem happy enough. If they got in a good director of football, developed a long term strategy combined with their near limitless resources they could almost dominate the premier league as much as Bayern in the Bundesliga. Hopefully they maintain their current scatter gun approach for the foreseeable.

You're right that it's all very knee-jerk. The problem they've got these days is that they're certainly not guaranteed a top four finish any more and finishing outside the top 4 impacts their revenue stream via loss of CL and some commercial income.

They HAVE to try to get a top four spot and yet again they're gambling that spending serious money will do that. Of course, weakening Arsenal is a good move for them in that respect as it means there's only four other clubs they need to compete with, rather than five.
