Jon Venables sentenced to 40 months.

Does anyone know if he has only had the one change of identity? Or will it change again after this conviction

Disgusting.

How can you murder someone, then reoffend after being found with child porn and only serve 3 years and then get caught again with child porn and get a similar sentence?
At what point do we throw the key away on a vile individual who shows no signs of learning his lesson?

He can't his brain is wired differently but society doesn't allow the big labot anymore when it is was discovered it wasn't a cure for many types of psychopathic behaviour.

This bloke has to be locked up for life pure ans simple until a cure for his disorder can be found and we are many many decades away from discovering why the human brain can be wired this way from conception.

I would have brought back capital punishment years ago and then we wouldn't even be discussing this case. For all the left wing, namby pamby, do gooders on here who bleat about giving people another chance how many more chances does this vile piece of shit need?

Yes we did it to death on the other thread. You wanted them executed when they were 10 years of age.

It's a good job you don't have the power to fulfill your desire.

He should, however, remain in prison for a very long time

Whilst most of what you say is undoubtably true, the biggest culprits in this are the police. To have the evidence in front of them and to withhold it, hoping to secure a conviction on a lie, is unforgivable. Her false accusation is indeed despicable, but we have no idea of her mental health and what else might have been going on in her life.
The first job of the justice system, as far as I’m concerned at least, is protecting the innocent and not securing a conviction at any cost.
The police are supposed to do the jobs they get paid for and stop stuff like this ever getting to a court room.
The problem here is the new rules for taking things to court, and new timescales imposed to do so. It is incorrect and unfair to accuse the police of witholding the evidence to secure a conviction, that wont be the case at all.

The issue here is that this govt brought in very tight timeframes in which to put a full file of evidence in after charge and before the first significant court hearing which is called a PCMH (plea and case management hearing). Full disclosure has to be done by then within a ridiculously short period of time. This has been brought in during a a period of austerity which doesnt allow for it to happen within that time. This is coupled with the new modern digital enquiries that need carrying out. Facebook research, obtaining that info in an evidential format, and downloading devices such as tablets, smartphones and laptops is very resource intensive and needs new dedicated staff to achieve it. This at a time when resources and budgets have been eye-wateringly slashed. Also, people use such devices so much these days that there are often thousands of texts, emails, FB posts, twitter etc to go through. As soon as it was obtained in these cases you refer to, it was disclosed immediately and then on review by CPS found to undermine. As such it can be seen that there is no intention to withhold anything -it was provided as soon as available. It then goes to the CPS to review who are equally strapped for time and staff and the problem in reviewing it repeats itself.

What should happen is, nobody should be charged until everything is in. That is the ideal but can never be guaranteed - new witnesses, existing witnesses remembering different digital evidence/conversations and any other human factors affect that. To resolve this, the govt needs to fund it properly, and provide the appropriate resources, and in the meantime change these ridiculously stringent timeframes they have imposed.

Anyway, none of this has anything to do with Jon Venables and this thread.

Absolutely. And let's not forget that at the time of their conviction, Thompson was considered the worst of the two. Not that Venables himself was exactly an angel of course, but the way it was reported you'd have thought Thompson would've been the one who was least likely to be rehabilitated.

Exactly while they’re both horrible cu nts Thompson seems to have put his cu ntishness behind him

Did it to to death indeed but nobody has answered the question about how many chances they should have...
I'd wager that it was because it seemed like a rhetorical question, but if you want an answer to something that is quite arbitrary then perhaps you should be the one to start us off: how many chances do you think 'they' should have?

The system makes no sense.
