Just watching the short film on BT about Garrincha and if not for his injury that plagued him in the mid 60's till retirement in 73, I think we would be talking about him more than Pele as brasils greatest player.

A shame that he also fell to alcoholism at points in his career, and had a troubled life off the pitch, because of it and it really destroyed his career (attacking his missus was out of order and inexcusable)

In Rio, at least, he is considered the greatest of them all.

(He is one of their own)

The most amazing thing about Garrincha was that he had polio as a child which left both his legs curved and his spine was twisted yet he overcame his physical problems to become one of the greatest players of all time.
