Maybe we should go back to the cobbles! It would slow the traffic down also! This country is literally falling apart

We thought the roads were bad when we lived in Warrington but since moving to stretford... Jeez!. its like off roading.

Bearing in mind people got off the trams in the middle of nowhere and walked to the tram station says a lot about Third World manchester (no capital m for a reason !) I suppose they could be comforted that Mr Burnham has written them a strongly worded letter.

As for the roads, they relay a strech, do it properly as well............ and then 3 weeks later a Utilities company come and dig half of it up. No wonder there are pot holes.
Remember a Woodpecker spoof advert a few years ago, where workmen in a trench in the road were asked by gas, electric, water, etc, companies if could also lay their pipes in the trench while it was open. The adverts always ended up with "what a refreshing idea!"

Seriously, why can't they do that?

The potholes are worse for a number of reasons.
More traffic,spot turning (power steering)
More 44 tonne lorries on the road.
Shoddy reinstatement ie no use of joint compound round the asphalt patch. This leads to water ingress, icy weather expands and causes the patch to break up.
Oh, and councils skimping on repairs.

Victoria Avenue was surface dressed a few months ago. Within weeks it started to break up.

It's now back to square one only worse.

A total waste of time and money.

There's a road by us in Leve that keeps getting re-tarmaced. Fuck all wrong with the cobbles underneath, and they didn't come up every winter. No idea why they just don't rip the tarmac up and just leave the cobbles.

Still is in Tameside, particularly Cheetham Hill Road in Ducky. I understand that the council are trying to get the M60 running through Tameside to be cobbled to slow the traffic down.

Judging by current M60 works, that would get done by the year 2030, if they started tomorrow.
