At some point in the next 24 months, the rags will reach the point where they have to sell big to buy big.

I think that point has been reached.
I don’t think we will be seeing any more big names join until one or more of Pogba, Sanchez, De Gea or Mourinho leave. Both from a financial and ego perspective

I am sure you may have a point but very few will have sympathy for folk forced to live on 300k a year. Of course there is an adjustment process but a lot will depend on how level headed and sensible players are when the are earning the mega money. Personally I would think that the sudden change in ones routine after leaving football would be just as traumatic as the salary cut.
Having worked for a short time with an ex City player from the 80's (this was 1998) his adjustments he struggled with was having to think for himself.
He had spent his life from the age of 16 being told what to do. Turn up at the train station or the airport at a set time. The club held his passport so he didn't need to bring it or buy tickets.
When he retired he discovered a big wide world out there that he didn't know how to function in.

Piano Man

It's 3 O'Clock on a Saturday
Regular cockney's shuffle in
There's a rich man on the football pitch
Doing fu#k all to help the rags win.

Sanchez can you play us a memory
Can't remember it, maybe its us?
About a man who once liked to play football
Gave it up, to park Jose's red bus

Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
We're Man CIty and we'll take the piss out of you
'cause you picked the rags and they're shite

And Mourinho is practising politics
But looks more like he's losing the plot
Likes to think he's a master tactician
Pep just laughs, PEG its clear that you're not

And Pogba is the new Carlton Palmer
Govan Piss can, he ditched him for free
On reflection, did well to get that much
But his haircuts are legendary

Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing 'glory glory' tonight
We're Man City and we'll take the piss out of you
'cause you picked the rags and they're shite

Not having that!
The only time a City player needed a passport in the 80's was for when he went on his summer holiday

That is rubbish mate, as kids you are told what time to go to bed, what time to sleep, what time to eat, what time to be in school, what time school finishes, yet kids grow to adults and learn to make there own decisions, it's easy for a footballer to say oh I never had to think for myself so I am not to blame for loosing all my money, or being a gambling addict, pisshead or drug addict
