Despite the film there were no Americans involved in the Great Escape.

That depends on what you mean by 'involved'.

Quite a few Americans were 'involved' in digging the tunnels, but then they all got moved to their own camp before the tunnels were finished, and hence were unable to take part in the actual escape part.
 
When the star Betelgeuse explodes (it's the orangey looking one at Orion's shoulder), it will be brighter than the moon at night, and easily visible in broad daylight for about 2-3 months, despite being around 640 light years away.

Wrong. That won't happen until around 640 years after it explodes.
 
The reason apples crunch when you bite them is because your biting creates a small sonic boom as the apple cracks.

Also, an apple is a type of rose.
