Depends when they were issued.
ID cards prove legitimacy. That's what they are for. They would have and would now prevent anyone who is a legitimate citizen from worrying about their status and would simplify the job of the home office in finding and removing illegal immigrants.

well Shadow women and equalities minister Dawn Butler, has,not as an MP but as a daughter of carribean parents, has called out May as prosiding over racist policies and needs to resign.

We might have to have them.... at the next elections there will be 5 constituencies where you are required to provide formal identification with photo ID such as passport / driving licence.
