St. Andrew was also born in Palestine and lived for the most part in Achaia, Greece. Saint David lived n Pembrokeshire and served as Bishop of Mynyw (now St. Davids).
The general case with the likes of St. George or Andrew is to do with personal feudal families adopting the certain saint as a patron and subsequently coming to power, or more often, the 'borrowing' of relics that eventually become glorified in that country. St. Andrew for example supposedly had relics brought from Constantinople to a Pictish king.
