If by infectious you mean catchy then I’d say there are a great deal of bands I’d place ahead of New Order in that regard.

Crowded House and Tears for Fears immediately spring to mind.

I do agree that Crowded House are a great band though. Easily in my top 10 ever.

I struggle with whether to count it as NO or JD, but “Ceremony” is a great song either way. The intro is certainly one of the most “infectious” ever.

I probably over-listened to “Substance” in the 80s and burned out on it a bit though.
