I could see Fernando as a center half under Pep as well. He can break up plays pretty well and in Pep's system the central defenders play high up so they are playing almost like a defensive midfielder would anyway. He's not ideal to play in the midfield under Pep, but he's better with his feet than Mangala or Otamendi and you need to be able to play out from the back. He's decent in the air as well. Seeing how Pep transforms player like Alaba and Lahm into different roles I don't think it's out of the question.
