    Gigs Thread

I saw them supporting Simple Minds at the Arena in 2009,OMD were brilliant and I walked out on Simple Minds when for the umpteenth time Jim Kerr asked the audience to sing. Glad to hear they are still amazing.

    Punk and New Wave thread.

For just over £30 a ticket and the fact it's in a great venue, I've given it a go. Let's see next February.

    Official Match Day Coach Services

Seems a long time ago in the days of Yelloways and Ellen Smiths running to every home game and most aways. They were generally starting in Rochdale and picking up on the way in to the match. The smell of Old Spice, beer and cigs were ingrained in those coaches. I think it's a great idea but...

    Treble Winners Presentation Box Damaged

Mine arrived today by UPS and the outer box was bashed and slightly torn. Thankfully the presentation box was fine and everything was intact. They need stronger boxes and some padding.

    North Stand Expansion

I'm getting City Circle vibes here and we all know how that ended. Purchasers will probably end up having their bricks laid in the corner of Car Park 12.

    Simple Minds

It was a decent gig and probably went downhill from there as far as I was concerned. Paris was a good night but Roundhay was too long of a day in the hot sun.

    Simple Minds

Saw them: Apollo 1984 Paris 1989 Leeds 1989 MEN 2009 I left the last one part way through as JK seemed to want the audience to sing most of the tunes. However OMD were fantastic as the support, so it wasn't completely wasted. Don't think I'll bother again but I did enjoy the acoustic concert...

    Punk and New Wave thread.

I've a handwritten and signed (by Uncle Charlie) lyric sheet framed with the original brown single plus bits of Warhead ephemera. The best track out of the hundreds they recorded but I still think AKOB was the best album. Last time I saw them was 1983 when Charlie wasnt even a teenager back then.

    Colonoscopy

9 years ago I had (unknown to me) Diverticulitis that resulted in a tear in the colon. From a feeling of a bad stomach ache on Day 1 to emergency life saving surgery on Day 9 followed by 10 days in HDU and 14 days on a ward in the pit that is North Manchester. Left with a stoma for 18 months...

A trip down memory lane around Manchester....

Met Anthony numerous times in The Mitre back in the early 90s. It even got to the stage he'd sit at the table a group of us were on when he'd finished his singing part on a Fisher Price mic.

    Postcode Lottery / National Lottery

On the National Lottery my maximum sole amount is about £125. As part of an 8 man syndicate we won £2.5k a number of years ago. I only ever do this on a rollover/must be won. On the Postcode Lottery only won £10 about a dozen times in the past 10 years or so. Premium Bonds generally win between...

    Heartburn

The Doc took me off Ranitidine (Zantac) a couple of years ago with a concern that it was possibly cancer causing due to an impurity. I didn't think it's ever been back on the market since then?

Quick technical question while it’s quiet………

I've seen it a few times over the past decade or so. it's usually a tool used when the other side wishes to unsettle us. I'd say in recent years though it wouldn't matter if we played width way or upside down the result usually only goes one way.
