Kevin De Bruyne - 2017/18 performances

It's clear he could use a break. But in the discussion Salah or KDB, Kevin every time. In the world of football, he's unique. He has qualities I've not seen around, his peripheral vision, his pass distribution,... no one else is on that level.

Kevin De Bruyne - 2017/18 performances

Mourinho has a history of doing that, he did the same to Lukaku, Mata, Casillas. Each time blaming the player's work ethics for him not playing them. Which is an easy thing to say as no one can check this of course. What really annoys me about it though, is that it can ruin young player's...

Kevin De Bruyne - 2017/18 performances

Mourinho rarely puts his trust in a young player, I remember back then that KDB was by miles the best CFC player in preseason. Yet, as soon as the season began, he was benched and given very few opportunities. Same with Lukaku, he rather get an aging Drogba back than give chances to a young...

Best goal scored with a weaker foot

I don't really think Kevin has a weaker foot. Reminds me a bit of Luc Nilis in that way, doesn't matter which foot he used... Example of a goal with his "weak" foot:

    Champions League Games 26/27 Sept

This was an odd story: Timo Werner had to be substituted because of the noise in the stadium... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/09/27/leipzigs-timo-werner-forced-pitch-due-noisy-besiktas-fans/ Never read anything like it before.

    Next Captain

I can see it being KDB under Pep as he already is his natural mouthpiece on the pitch.

    Danilo - 2017/18 performances

Wouldn't be the first time Pep played a RB in that role though, but overall I think Phillip Lahm was way more composed when he filled in that slot. Plus, not sure that kind of formation and type of play would work in the Premier League?

    New Kompany Calf Injury?

Yeah, Martinez (the Belgian coach) said he got a kick tot the back of his knee during the game against Gibraltar, that's why he didn't play him for safety measures against Greece. It's ominous that he still doesn't train with the group one week later though.

Next season is not for the kids

Exactly, even Barcelona, who were once famous for their academy, now sell them off with buy back clauses inserted into their transfer contracts.

    Kylian Mbappe

Marca reports that Real Madrid contacted him and asked him to: - stay calm and wait until Morata and James are sold off - keep in mind their wage structure means they won't match what PSG wants to pay him (250k € /week). Apparently if they did so it would mean he'd become 3rd highest paid after...

Champions League Final 3rd June 2017

Bit of a stretch wouldn't you say? They have some big money transfers, sure, so does City. But plenty of their team are actually players from their academy (Carvajal, Asensio, Morata, Casilla, Yanez, Vazquez, Mariano) or players they got at a very young age (Marcelo, Varane, Ramos, Isco...

Champions League Semi Final Games 2/3/9/10 May

But Real seems to have a whole new batch of fresh, home-grown players. Would be nice to see that happen at City (Asensio, Carvajal, Morata, Vallejo, Llorente, Lucas Vasquez, Mariano,...) I felt Real started great, than started slacking for a good 30 minutes. Imo if they pull that stunt against...

Kevin De Bruyne - 2016/17 performances

If there's one player who's always been lauded for his footballing intelligence, it has to be KDB. Maybe something else is in play, like a team that has lost motivation for this season. Let's hope they qualify for the CL so they can build up to the next season.

    Monaco - Post Match thread.

Didn't Pep say so himself before the game? At the press conference he said City would have to score to go through, so basically implying City wouldn't be able to defend a 2 goal lead.

    Monaco post match

Nope, it only applies to cases where there's reasonable doubt and I can imagine refs deciding against giving a penalty if they have the impression a player is very eager to go down.

    Leroy Sane - 2016/2017 performances

I don't see the comparison with Ronaldo: if anything he reminds me of a young Henry: fast, skillful and gliding past defenders without needing 25 stepovers.

    Monaco post match

What a game. Have to say Monaco has some great talents. They really hurt City the first 70 minutes. Luckily a game is 90 minutes. About the referee controversy: I actually thought he was brilliant. In my mind, Aguero was a little too eager to go down and that's why he didn't get the penalty. I...

Kevin De Bruyne - 2016/17 performances

That's a very decent top 5 to be #1 of.

    Vincent Kompany - 2016/17 performances

In his position, if he stays fit, he should have 4 more years in him at the very least. That's a big if, but I definitely hope so.
