    Jason Manford

Just got tickets to see Jason at Stafford Gatehouse Theatre in October. Great to be able to see some live comedy 5 minutes walk from home!

    FA Cup Final 2024 | Manchester Derby | Sat 25 May 3:00pm

I think the main issue is the cup final falling on a Bank Holiday weekend when rail engineering work is always planned so routes can be blocked from Saturday to Monday to complete larger projects. I assume the cup final is 2 weeks later than in previous years as a hangover of the winter World...

    FA Cup Final 2024 | Manchester Derby | Sat 25 May 3:00pm

To be fair, engineering work is Network Rail's responsibility. The train operators just have to plan around the available capacity on diversionary routes.

    FA Cup Final 2024 | Manchester Derby | Sat 25 May 3:00pm

The trains are already reduced from 3 to 2 trains per hour between Manchester and Euston and vice versa that weekend as there's engineering work between Crewe and Stafford.

    Swimming Thread

Back at Oasis Sports Centre in Covent Garden this morning for a very pleasant lido swim. Then next door to the Craft Beer Co. pub to undo all the hard work!

    Metrolink to / from Etihad

I've been told the reasoning behind this is that a lot of young professionals live in the New Islington/ Ancoats area and commute to and from Salford Quays and Media City, hence why the weekday peak service operates Media City to the Etihad to double the frequency of the Ashton to Eccles service.

Stupid little things that bug you

Seems like the mainstream media are obsessed with publicising the bland.

The Co-op Live, next to the Etihad.

I agree that it's surprising people are shocked by the price of food and drink at music and sports venues. I decided a long time ago to eat and drink before or after events for two reasons. 1. I want to remember what I'm watching and don't want to have to piss every 2 seconds. 2. I'd rather pay...

Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

I was hoping the Wolves games was going to be at 16:30 on the Sunday as I'm off to the Keane / Lathums gig at the arena that evening.

    Running thread

This morning's Isabel Trail Parkrun completed in 28:52. Again on the "B" course at Stafford RUFC due to continuing flooding on the "A" course. Bit of a late start this morning as the rugby club car park was congested with coaches picking up members en route to Twickenham for the women's 6 Nations.

    Bars around Piccadilly Station

The North Westward Ho on Chapel Walks is quite plush. Sells some very nice Pomona Island brewery beers too.

How's your mood after the RM game?

Not that arsed. At least we've won the CL now so that monkey is off our back.

What are you listening to.................RIGHT NOW!!!

    In goal, number 31, Ederson....

    Running thread

This morning's Peel Parkrun completed in 30:22. Very busy this morning with extra attendees because of tomorrow's Marathon, leading to a very congested start. Once again, more congestion was caused around the tiny puddles and mud patches as some participants were scared of getting their shoes...

Stupid little things that bug you

When I see such a group a group approaching me, I move to the inside of the pavement furthest away from the kerb to force them to walk in single file or force one of them onto the road.

The Waldorf (and other pubs) may close

The Oxnoble is my partner's local but we've only been there once on account of the landlord being a miserable bastard & it being full of Rags. I'd be seriously tempted to put an offer in for it if it came on the market & turn it into a Blues pub, but retaining the real ales.

What city/town do you hate the most?

Got to agree that Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Dudley and Walsall aren't great. However, bits of the Black Country are really nice. Some of it is quite rural and scenic between the big towns, and some of the best pubs serving fantastic beer are located here. Anywhere selling beers from...

What city/town do you hate the most?

On my last visit just used it as a starting point for a beach walk to St Annes. Was all very pleasant once I got past Starr Gate.

What city/town do you hate the most?

Blackpool. I go back every 10 years or so to make sure it's still a shit hole, and it always is.
